„The fact that my music seems easy to understand, does not mean that it does not touch complex things and phenomenons“ – talks about his work Janusz Bielecki. The composer’s piece „Sen“ (Dream) is part of a triptych entitled „Sekrety“ (Secrets) for symphony orchestra and piano. The premiere of the composition took place in 2011 in Cracow Philharmonic and Polish Radio Concert Studio S1 in Warsaw. The composition draws the attention of the listener with the improvisational nature of solo instruments displayed on the background of an ephemeral, delicate accompaniment. The theme started by the piano evolves and appears in turn in cello, flute and English horn part, only to be repeated at the end by the whole orchestra. Dreams are highlighted by a specific harmony that on one hand surprises with its simplicity but on the other emphasizes oneiric, almost film-like character of the composition. Dreams are unpredictable. In them we float above the ground, travel in time and play different roles. When we wake up – we usually can recall dreamt images. However if we tried to
re-create the music from our dreams, it might sound like Bielecki hears it.
