Invitation for a master class taught by out juror - William Goldstein.
01 March 2013
William Goldstein, chairman of the jury of the Screen and Sound Fest. Competition is a pianist, composer, explorer and pioneer of new technologies. So far he realised 35 albums and composed music for over 50 movies and television programs including music to Fame, the TV show and movies such as Shocker, The Favorite or The Miracle Worker.
The meeting with the composer, that will take place on 14th and 15th of March in the Małopolski Ogród Sztuki (Lesser Poland Art Garden) organised with the Festiwal Tańca Współczesnego (Contemporary Dance Festival) KRoki, will have a form of dance workshop. That art, forgotten in the 20th century, was practiced by Bach, Mozart, Handel, Scarlatti, Lizt, Chopin or Gershwin, made both the artist and the listener more aware of the primary, processual and dialogical dimensions of music. Unlikely jazz improvisation, deduced from the given them, Goldstein’s instant composition begins from three piano tones randomly picked by the participant of the workshop or person from the audience during a concert. From those sounds and the order in which they were presented, music emerges in relation to dance, singing, film or animation,
Workshop is aimed at musicians, singers, dancers, directors but also listeners and observers looking for “living” music.
